LIVE: Data Retention Vote In Sweden

16:10. The vote on the constitutional safeguard is complete. 62 votes for postponement, 281 against, 6 absent. 281 votes is not five-sixths of Parliament. Data retention is POSTPONED in Sweden until 2012. Victory!

16:08. Here we go. The constitution is being quoted.

16:07. The constitutional safeguard (“underställning”) is coming up.

16:05. Many small details are being hammered through. We’re all waiting for the constitutional safeguard vote.

16:04. Voting on Data Retention begins.

16:00. Voting has started. The first item is being voted about, wind power. Data retention is the second item.

15:59. Members of Parliament are seated. This is a rare day when absence is not allowed; normally, both blocks agree to sync their number of absent MPs as to not upset the block balance.

15:55. I am seated in the audience at Parliament, overlooking the Floor. Delegates are walking about in seeming disarray.

15:30. Thirty minutes until today’s voting begins. Data Retention is the second item on today’s voting in Parliament.
